The Beauty of Outdoor Weddings

Giving nature a starring role!

Outdoor weddings take a star role with Penny and Apollo. Here at Lucky Penny Weddings we love it when two people come together on their special day and we go all out to play our part in the proceedings with our vintage wedding transport.

It’s safe to say we’ve seen a variety of wedding venues and they all have their virtues, but there’s something special about the natural beauty and impact of outdoor weddings.

With outdoor weddings you can create a type of ambiance not possible indoors and take full advantage of a natural backdrop that can be stunning in its own right. Whether it’s lush gardens, an orchard, a beach, or a country estate, you can be sure that your wedding would have a beautiful setting.

Here are 7 reasons why an outdoor wedding could be a great idea for you.

1. More flexibility on numbers
If you’re planning a large wedding then you may be restricted with capacity numbers with an indoor venue. With an outside space your guests wouldn’t be feeling crowded or stuffy, and you would have plenty of space for dancing.

2. The natural beauty of the scenery
No amount of crepe paper, glitter, or balloons can compete with the natural beauty of the blue sky hanging above colourful gardens, golden beaches, or fresh greenery surrounding your wedding party.

3. Your photographer will love it
Professional wedding photographers love an opportunity to get creative, and the pure loveliness of Mother Nature will allow then to create truly memorable pictures. If you give them plenty of notice and, ideally, access to the venue in advance, they’ll be able to analyse the quality of the light, the position of the sun and times, where the shade is, and the best locations for photos.

4. Unleash your creativity
With an outdoor location you can let your imagination run wild. Would you like a homemade backdrop? Potted palms? Roman columns? A bonfire? No problem! Or you could hang fairy lights from the trees, seat your guests on hay bales or at picnic tables, display your photos on tree trunks, make a wedding arch from wild flowers – the sky is (literally) the limit!

5. Cost
In general, outdoor sites are less expensive to rent than indoor. Of course, this may not hold true if you are hoping to be married in the courtyard of a medieval castle, but you will usually find that an outdoor venue comes at a bargain price.

6. It’s great for children
Venues for outdoor weddings can be a lot more family-friendly than an indoor wedding. Outside, there’s a breeze and plenty to look at so children feel less cooped up. Plus you can organise some fun outdoor games to keep them occupied, and they’ll be able to run around more freely which has the added benefit of allowing them to use up excess energy!

7. You CAN plan for the British weather
Given that the weather in the UK can change in a heartbeat, you can arrange for a tipi or a marquee to be erected at the venue so that you’ll have somewhere to shelter if an unexpected rain cloud appears.

Tipis and marquees can make stunning settings in their own right and can be dressed up or down to suit your wedding theme. Plus they usually come with removable sides which gives you plenty of choice when it comes to dealing with our unpredictable weather.
